We checked 36 online mushroom dosage calculators: what they ask, what they leave out

Most online mushroom dosage calculators ask for your body weight and say little about the medicines that make psilocybin risky. We checked 36 of them on October 26, 2026, recorded what each page asks and warns about, and left out every number they put out.

The short answer

Of 36 web calculators we checked, 23 require your body weight, even though trial data on 288 adults found no evidence that weight changed how strongly psilocybin affected them.1 Only 6 name all three of lithium, SSRIs and MAOIs, and 22 of the 35 pages we could read name none of them. 3 give any help line. 18 are run by companies that sell psilocybin or mushroom products.

How we checked

We searched for the phrases people type, such as "magic mushroom dosage calculator" and "shroom tolerance calculator", checked likely domains, and opened every working calculator we found on October 26, 2026: 36 on the web. Listings for 3 calculator apps were read but not counted. We recorded only what the calculator page itself showed; a menu link to another article didn't count.

What we didn't record: any calculator's output. The data has no suggested amounts in it, and neither does this page. The number on a calculator's screen is the thing this site argues you can't rely on, so reprinting it would defeat the point.

Some limits. Two sites' calculators (mycodosing.wtf and Mindful Myco) run only in JavaScript, so we read their questions from the code. A French tolerance tool couldn't be read at all, so counts about page content use the 35 readable pages. Calculators on everycalculators.com and MiniToolVerse blocked our tools and aren't counted. We left out the calculator run by this site's publisher; it's checked further down. Most search results for the main phrases were text pages on unrelated organizations' subdomains, with no calculator, and aren't counted.

What we found

Names link to each calculator's record below. Quotes are from the pages as of October 26, 2026.

Body weight: most ask for it, the research says it doesn't predict effects

23 of 36 require body weight, and 2 more make it optional. They don't agree on what to do with it. Cloud920 scales in a straight line from a 70 kg reference, Cannabis Bakehouse adjusts "approximately 6% per 10 kilograms difference compared to 70 kg", HealingMaps uses "roughly a power-of-0.45 relationship", and Pacific Shrooms says "We scale gently for it, not linearly." None of the four cites a source for its rule.

The research points the other way. A pooled analysis of 288 adults weighing 49 to 113 kg found "no evidence that body weight affected subjective effects of psilocybin,"1 and in 77 people given the same fixed amount, BMI didn't predict intensity.2 Three calculators cite the first study and one links the second, and Mushly calls its own weight step "cosmetic". Potency: rarely stated, rarely sourced

11 of 36 state the potency they assume as a number, 19 warn that potency varies, and 14 of the 35 readable pages do neither. Claims about the size of the variation disagree and mostly lack a source: "up to tenfold fluctuations" (Shroomery), "up to 80 times stronger" (Church of Ambrosia) and "plus or minus 15-20%" within one cultivar (shroomDOSAGE). Two calculators, mycodosing.wtf and Mushly, cite a lab study of psilocybin in Psilocybe cubensis.5 Only Church of Ambrosia is built around lab values the user types in, and only mycodosing.wtf shows a range with a per-species "Uncertainty Factor" instead of one number. Published measurements are on the potency data page.

Medicines: the biggest gap

15 of 36 mention medication interactions at all, 2 of them only in general terms. 8 name lithium, 8 name SSRIs or antidepressants and 13 name MAOIs. 6 name all three, and 22 of the 35 readable pages name none.

Lithium carries the clearest warning sign in the research: of 62 online reports of lithium combined with a classic psychedelic, 47% described seizures and 39% involved medical attention.3 Those are self-reports, not a controlled study. Mushly is the only calculator page we saw that names this analysis.

4 calculators ask about medicines as an input: MAOI checkboxes on Shroomery, Healing-Mushrooms.net and mycodosing.wtf, and shroomDOSAGE's "On MAOIs / SSRIs / antidepressants?", which doesn't say what the answer changes. None asks about lithium. A history of psychosis, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia comes up on 6 of 36 pages and heart conditions or blood pressure on 3, as text rather than screening questions. 19 of the 35 readable pages mention none of interactions, mental-health risk, heart risk or a help line. Help lines: on 3 pages of 36

Know Harm lists 988, 911, the SAMHSA National Helpline and Poison Control in a crisis panel at the foot of the page. Cybinly lists the Fireside Project peer support line, and Mushly lists Fireside Project, DanceSafe and a local emergency number. Psilobase and Shroomery have crisis pages in their site menus but nothing on the calculator page. None we saw lists 988, Fireside Project and Poison Control together with when to use each; our help page does.

Tolerance: the models disagree

13 of 36 include a tolerance calculator, on its own or as part of a dose tool. Their stated models don't match. EasyMushroomCultivation, Azarius and mycodosing.wtf state decay curves with half-lives of about 2.3 to 3 days. Others state a reset: 5 days (lsdtolerancecalculator.github.io), 11 days (Shroomery, Healing-Mushrooms.net), about 14 days (Mindful Myco, Tripsitter) or "~4 weeks" (Church of Ambrosia). None ties its numbers to a human study. The human evidence cited on these pages dates from 1961: a study of 19 volunteers that showed tolerance to psilocybin and cross-tolerance with LSD, whose abstract reports no recovery time,4 and, on Tripsitter's page, a clinical report in which tolerance was seen in one person and had gone when that person was retested "several weeks later".9 The models are compared with the research on the tolerance calculator page.

Who runs them: mostly sellers

18 of 36 are run by companies that sell psilocybin or mushroom products, mostly Dutch smartshops selling magic truffles and Canadian online sellers. 3 more are run by shops selling other things: a mycology supply shop runs two and a harm-reduction supply shop one. The rest come from 7 media sites, 6 individuals or unnamed operators, and 2 community operators (a forum and a church).

On several seller pages the calculator leads straight to products. Novus Fumus follows its tool with "Calculated your ideal magic truffle dose?" and a product list, and Microdose Bros ends with "Order now from Microdose Bros Smart Shop". Azarius offers both its calculators as free embeds for other sites. The exact-match domain mushroomdosagecalculator.com is a seller page too: it lists psilocybin mushroom products and capsules, and its order buttons go to a third-party store. It isn't run by this site's publisher.

7 of 36 name a person and 1 names a reviewer (HealingMaps, a mycologist); none names a medical reviewer. 5 show a visible date, 6 carry ads or ad code, 3 have a hard age gate, and none requires a sign-up.

This site is published by the team that runs My Mushroom Dispensary, an online shop for adults 21+, and its dosing page has a calculator. It isn't one of the 36 records above; the box below checks it against the same list.

What a calculator page should show

No calculator can measure what's in your mushrooms, but a good page shows what its number rests on. It should:

  • Say who runs it, and whether they sell what it calculates, next to the tool.
  • Show the full formula, including any body-weight rule and its source.
  • State the potency it assumes, with a source, and say plainly that potency varies between mushrooms and batches.
  • Show a range or a stated uncertainty, not one confident number.
  • Ask about lithium, SSRIs and other antidepressants, and MAOIs, and say what each answer changes.
  • Ask about a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, and about heart or blood-pressure conditions.
  • List help lines: 911 for an emergency, 988 for a crisis (call or text, any time), Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222, and the Fireside Project peer support line at 62-FIRESIDE (call or text, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Pacific).678
  • Cite a source for every constant, including tolerance curves, and say so when no human data stands behind one.
  • Show a last-updated date, who checked it, and the legal position in plain words.

Questions people ask

Are online mushroom dosage calculators accurate?

They can't be accurate about what's in your mushrooms, because none of them measures it. Most multiply your answers by an assumed average potency, and only 11 of the 36 we checked state that assumption as a number.

Which calculators mention lithium?
